Jason Langer

For the last 20 years Jason has been exhibiting B&W prints at galleries in the US and UK and teaching at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. Concurrently, Jason has also worked as private printer for some of the west coast's best-known fine art photographers, most prominently Michael Kenna (www.michaelkenna.net).

“I printed on a variety of gelatin silver papers and favored Ilford and Agfa for my own work. At that time pigment printing was in its infancy and far inferior to the gelatin silver process.”

“I began paying attention to digital printing processes in the early 1990s and was never impressed. I was keeping my eye out for a pigment ink printing process that would equal if not rival the richness in tonality that I was achieving via the traditional darkroom. With Museo's Silver Rag paper and modern inks, printers and software, I've finally been able to create pigment prints that can sit side by side with gelatin silver and offer the same level of smoothness of tone and consistency of color, with the same weight and acuity of it's predecessor. Finally the pigment printing process has reached it's most important quality: preciousness.”
